Heather Thomson, Sharlene Brown, Maureen Nelson, Joy Hinman, Sandra Farr-Jones, Jim McCreary and Barb Froud.
Meeting called to order at 7:37pm
Moved by Sandra to approve the agenda as presented, carried
Moved by Maureen to approve the minutes of May 29th, 2008 as presented with the correction to Maureen’s last name, should read Nelson not Neilson, carried
Treasurer’s Report – N/A
Business Plan – Organization Review page 9
Under Society include to read: committed to assisting
-Lending of historical artifacts
-Assist in research and development of historical archives for the public.
Values & Guiding Principles all good except last one
Should include: partnering with various other organizations to meet the objective of telling the story.
Mission Statement: promote history and culture
Objectives: assist in the development of the interpretive center.
Maureen will update the discussed additions and corrections and send out to everyone.
Hopefully, we will get a draft for AGM
Joy will work on list of employees that worked at the plant to have for opportunities to obtain additional information and history of the plant and oilfields.
Website Update – June hits to the 25th – 194,740
Year to Date – 1,578,766
Laptop Battery – information not available at this time.
Walking Tour – committee meeting every 2 weeks. We will have an opportunity to include signage on benches etc on pathways.
Need to get a letter to council requesting permission to place a sign pole in Millennium park indicating the historical places of Turner Valley. Request presentation for July 21st meeting. Letter to council for July 7th. Barb to ask Richard and Sharlene to ask Thomas if they could do a drawing. Maureen to get Barb a list of the community names that we are suggesting.
TV Oil & Gas Committee – N/A
They are working with different oil companies that are very dedicated.
Driving Tour Booklets – they aren’t produced anymore. Jim will speak with Katherine
as we only have 10 copies left. If we can’t get them to produce them ask the province if we can have permission to get them printed.
AGM – September 25th, 2008 at 7pm, Flare n Derrick.
Barb to book the Flare, Maureen to see if she can get some of the TVOG people out.
Moved by Barb that we advertise in both the Gateway Gazette and the Okotoks Western Wheel.
Sharlene suggested the community boards.
If necessary to do further organizing for the meeting Jim will call a meeting over the summer.
