Edmonton...Turner Valley Gas Plant is now closed for the 2005 season. The gas plant closes for public tours after Labour Day and only allows tours by appointment until Remembrance Day.
The site will remain closed to public use throughout the entire 2006 visitor season to allow for the construction of a permanent containment system. The containment system will prevent hydrocarbons and other contaminants from moving off site and will allow for their remediation. It is expected to be in place by fall 2006.
