The Turner Valley Oilfield Society is a registered non profit society
formed on June 14, 1978.
The Society's purpose is to promote the Turner Valley Gas Plant as an interpretative
center and to promote awareness in the history of the Oilfields. Wellhead Flare: Raw natural gas is flared off to reduce the pressure to the point where it could be controlled with the methods and equipment available in those days and sent on to the Turner Valley processing plant. |

Date: Sat, 01/26/2008 - 02:00 Participants: Joy Hinman, Sandra Farr-Jones, Maureen Nelson, Dona Fluter, Barb Froud, Sharlene Brown and Jim McCreary Meeting called to order by Jim at 7:33 PM Moved by Maureen to approve the agenda with the following additions under New Business Oil & Gas Committee – Town of Turner Valley Hells Half Acre property Moved by Sandra and seconded by Joy to approve the minutes of November 1, 2007 as presented Treasurer’s Report – Sharlene reported that there has been an $80 increase in income since our November meeting from selling 2 Sandy Gowe books moved by Barb to approve the Treasurer’s Report as presented Old Business: Website - Barb reported that there must have been some adjustments made to our total hits for the past few months. July 109635 hits August 100309 hits September 144864 hits October 4683 hits November 69427 to November 20th, 2007 Video – Jim has spoken with Al Kimel again and he will get us a copy of the one he has at the moment. If he goes to BC in the near future he will pick up his original for us. Walking Tour – Maureen has started researching the sites and with get together with Joy and Marj in the new year Business Plan – Sharlene will resend the information – Maureen has had a look at the plan and feels that we are probably going to need a few hours to go over it and revise. Suggests having a Saturday meeting in January for the updating. Advisory Panel – A sub committee has been formed to put together pictures, maps, etc to be included in the final report to the minister they will be meeting tomorrow. Next advisory meeting is December 4 then there will be a luncheon with the minister on January 8 at the Peter Lougheed House in Calgary. New Business: The Cowboy Trail – Barb reported that Black Diamond Economic Development Committee would like to share the cost of the membership with the society. Sharlene feels that we should also contact the Town of Turner Valley to see if they would like to become involved and share the cost 3 ways. Barb to write a letter to the town with the information. Oil and Gas Committee – The town of Turner Valley is forming this new committee to stay proactive on what is being done and what still needs to be done. They will be having meetings with stakeholders and government to address remediation and the future requirements. Dona advises that we will be kept up to date. Hells Half Acres Property – Moved by Joy that the Turner Valley Oilfield Society do some research on what it would take to take the pathway and have a display area to Hells Half Acre. Sharlene advises that we need to look at some of the land use maps to see if it is in the town limits. Dona feels that is should happen with the new development in Seclusion Valley. Pathways for historic site links – Dona will check into this. Next meeting – Moved by Barb that we cancel our December meeting and have our next meeting January 24, 2008 seconded by Sharlene Moved by Joy to adjourn the meeting at 8:23 PM Next meeting January 24, 2008 Turner Valley 7:30PM |
